The rail line from Umdanagar station to Shamshabad Airport of MMTS Phase-2 is missing in the tenders called by RVNL (Rail Vikas Nigaml Limited).
Estimation for the project had already been laid out. In the total estimation of more than 600 crores, State government has taken a commitment of paying two-thirds of total cost.
This Phase-2 project includes doubling, electrifying, modern signaling system equipment, new bridges to be constructed, foot over bridges etc in the five routes.
Already estimation has been done two years ago for the six and half kilometre distance between the airport and the station at a cost of 30 crores but the GMR group, running the airport, is keen on metro rail link route rather than an on-ground traditional rail.
The complete tender work has been divided in to 3 different packages.
1. Quadrupling of track for the sections between Ghatkesar-Moula Ali and patch doubling between Moula Ali – Seethaphalmandi.
2. Doubling between Sanathnagar- Moula Ali, restoration of track between Telapur –Ramachandrapuram.
3. Doubling between Medchal- Bolarum & Falaknuma – Umdanagar.
But Umdanagar-Airport railway line is not included in any of the 3 packages.
Will it not be in MMTS Phase-2?
A pre-bid conference has been called at the RVNL’s head office in New Delhi on April 23 and the final bids are to be opened on May 22.
The winning bidder has to complete the project in 3 years as per the tender details.
